City Council is heading into budget deliberations once again. I like to think of it as annual warfare where two sides fight it out, and those sides are the WANTS and the NEEDS.
So; how does one mediate this war? How do we get the biggest bang for your tax payer buck? My approach has three parts. Need, Quality of Service, Wise investment.
The facts are that property taxes have increased over 50% in the last ten years. Ask yourself this – has your pay check gone up 50% in the last ten years? Is it getting harder given all your needs (not wants) to meet those expenses? Has the City of Edmonton helped or hindered you financially? Has the city taxed you beyond your capacity to pay?
