Here is an update for Drainage Services projects taking place in Millwoods.
1) Knottwood Road North at 75th Street, Hole in Road
Roadway Operations protected this location and forwarded to Drainage Services to inspect sewers for possible failure. Drainage Services completed the inspection and found sewers to be in good operating condition. To expedite the road repair Drainage Services proceeded to repair the road bed and then requested Roadway Operations to complete asphalt restoration. This project was completed on Friday August 7th 2015.
2) Millwoods Road at 32 Avenue, Grate in Road.
Repairs were performed on this storm sewer infrastructure grate in November 2014. On July 23, 2015, Drainage Services received a noise complaint regarding the grate making noise when vehicles go over it. Traffic control flashers were placed to alleviate the noise while the condition of the grate was being assessed.
It has been determined that the grate has been permanently damaged, and needs to be replaced although the structural integrity of the grate has not been compromised and will still support vehicular traffic, therefore, Drainage Services will be removing the traffic control flashers until a permanent repair can be completed. Drainage Services Staff will be meet with a contractor on August 11, 2015 to discuss the repair a get a better understanding of the repair schedule.
3) Knottwood Road North 81 St – Mill Woods Road, Pipe repair
Drainage Open Cut responded to a collapsed 375mm Sanitary pipe on August 6, 2015. There was a large depression or dip in the road and the depth of the pipe was quite deep at approximately 28 feet, in order to complete this repair a road closure was required.
The repair to the pipe should be completed by August 11, 2015, back filling of the pipe will take an additional 2-3 days due to the size of the excavation and should be completed by August 13 or 14, 2015. Drainage Services will coordinate with Roadways Operations to attempt to expedite the pavement restoration which will occur once the back filling of the pipe has been completed.
There are no sanitary service interruptions anticipated while this pipe repair is taking place.
